A common question to ask someone when you first meet them is, “What do you do?” I find it hard to answer that because I get to do a lot of different things. My day job is teaching courses in catechetics, Scripture, youth ministry, Church history, and music ministry at Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio. But on the weekends I’ll travel around talking about Jesus to teenagers and adults, speaking at men’s conferences or parish missions, or giving workshops to catechists. So that makes me a “professor” and a “speaker”.
I’ve also recorded fourteen CDs, mostly of original music, and get to lead worship for over ten thousand people each year, primarily through the Steubenville Summer Conferences. So add “musician” to the mix.
I also love to write. I published some books that I’m very proud of, working on a new book, and regularly publish articles. Call me an “author”.
More importantly, I’m madly in love with my wife and seven adorable kids. So I’m also a “husband” and “father”.
But when I die (and die we all will) all of those titles will fade and I’ll be left with just one: a child of God.
Scripture tells us that God “loves all that He has made.” (Wisdom 11:24) That means He loves me. And that means He loves you. St. Augustine once wrote, “God loves each of us as if there were only one of us.”
So whether I’m being a faithful husband, loving father, worship leader, author, speaker, or professor, it’s all about one thing—to share the love of God using every talent I’ve been blessed with.
If you’d like me to come to your parish, diocese, or country to talk, sing, or teach… I’d love to! But you’ve got to get through my wife first! She handles all my booking arrangements. So CLICK HERE TO SEND JENNIE AN EMAIL and she can tell you my availability, how much it costs, and any other information you might need.
